Late news
St. Louis-based Elvis Presley impersonator Steve Davis is taking his skills to the next level.
He’ll star in the upcoming movie “Elvis the Apostle.”
According to the faith-based family film’s description, Davis “will portray Rick Barton, a hardworking mechanic and Harley-rider beset by the despairs of mid-life. After suffering a brain injury, his character finds recovery and redemption by becoming a gospel-singing, street-preaching Elvis.”
Co-director and writer Pete Nicolazzi chose Davis for the role because “Steve brings a level of energy and magic to lift the spirits of individuals, just as Elvis himself did. He's not just an Elvis impersonator, he's an Elvis illusionist.”
The kick-off announcement and trailer premiere of “Elvis the Apostle” is at Davis' Memories of Elvis concert at 8 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Pageant. That concert features Davis & te Mid South Revival with Double Trouble, Rivertown Sound, Thomas Hickey as Buddy Holly and Anna Blair as Patsy Cline.
Those at the concert will have the chance to purchase film-related merchandise.
The film’s fundraising campaign on indiegogo.com begins the day of the concert. Donors will receive film related gifts and inclusion in the film's credits for their contributions by visiting their Indiegogo page after January 12.
Tickets for the concert are $20 available through Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, 800-745-3000 , at the box office and at Suite 100 at the Pageant.
